UCI Road World Championships 2026: Route Preview and the Ten Riders Who Can Win
The rainbow jersey returns to Montreal for the first time since 1974, when Eddy Merckx won the last Worlds held here. The 2026 elite men's road race is a monster: 273.7 kilometres and 3,803 metres of climbing, ending with twelve laps of the Mount Royal circuit. And for the first time in three years there is no clear favourite, because two-time defending champion Tadej Pogacar is absent through injury. This is the most open Worlds in years — here is what the course demands, and who can meet it.
