Stage preview

The decisive time trial: 32.1 km of largely flat terrain through the sherry country of Cádiz. This is the longest Vuelta time trial in years and the single biggest opportunity for a powerful rouleur to overturn the general classification before the final mountains.

Stage favourites

Stage 18 (El Puerto de Santa María → Jerez de la Frontera, 32.1 km) is an individual time trial. Every rider races alone against the clock, so pure time-trial specialists and all-rounders with a powerful engine will shine, while climbers and sprinters are likely to lose time.

Riders start at two-minute intervals. Check the intermediate time splits at the halfway point to follow the gaps live.
