Stage preview

Climbers have history in the Cantal, and this year's route adds the new Col de la Griffoul before the Pas de Peyrol, approached from Murat. The Col de Pertus is steep enough to shed the rest of the field, setting up a tight finish at the Le Lioran ski station.

Stage favourites

Stage 10 (Aurillac → Le Lioran, 166.6 km) is a mountain stage with 2,990 m of cumulative climbing — one of the race's queen stages. Pure climbers capable of sustaining high power output on long ascents are the ones to watch.

The real race begins on the final climb. Any rider distanced before the summit will lose significant time on GC rivals.
