Stage preview

A rare event this deep into a Tour: a stage with no major climbs at all, giving the fast men their first real shot at a bunch sprint in Place de Verdun. Expect the GC teams to keep any breakaway on a tight leash.

Stage favourites

Stage 5 (Lannemezan → Pau, 158.3 km) is a flat sprint stage with 1,883 m of cumulative climbing. The peloton will almost certainly arrive together and the finish will come down to the pure sprinters and their lead-out trains.

Watch for the lead-out trains forming in the final 3 km, and for any crosswind splits that might splinter the peloton before the sprint.
